Lightbulb Agallu/Oro Chango

Hello All:

There is very little information about Agallu. I've heard things here and there, some tales and maybe some pataki style stories that some times conflict each other.

I am going to be an initiate of Agallu and I would love to know more about this mysterious orisha.

What I know now is:
He coincides with volcanos;
He may be chango's father with Yemaya as the mother;
His number is 9
He is very serious most of the time (?);
He has a special relationship with Ochun and/or Rivers;
He coincides with St. Christopher (in the locumi style stories);
He likes large crackers with Palm Oil (9 of them); pineapples as adimu;
and

of course, I would love to know so much more. Can anyone shed some light on this, my future orisha?

Any new information would certainly be appreciated.

thank you, have a wonderful afternoon and weekend.

I appreciate and respect the sincerity of your question. It is, however, Santeria/Lucumi based, and has little relevence to genuine Ifa.

The Pataki, or stories, were NEVER intended to be taken as literal truth. They WERE intended to illustrate the basic components of certain energy fields.

The energy field you describe as Agallu, is a potent, creative force. It is NOT the "brother", "father" or distant cousin of anything, because it is simply energy...not a person or demi-god.

It is Catholicism that has twisted this reality to substantiate their own literal interpretations of Christianity.

I can also add that this energy, in Ifa, would be totally inappropriate to place (crown) into an individual's head.

Default Agallu

Thank you for your response. There is certainly a lot to learn, as most people are selling the stories and patakis as per my original post. people seem to be doing different things and it can get very confusing. I do know that my ceremony does not include having Agallu crowned to my head; and I would probably hesistate if they tried to convince me to do so.

Pardon my ignorance. I guess I should look around before asking questions.

Again, thank you for your response.

Regards,

ok so outside of the catholic inspired references that you have clarified, can you tell me more about Agallu energy? can you share something of pertinence?

I would love this.

Question Still Waiting for Someone to Tell Me More

Here I am again, waiting to see if someone will offer any insightful informatioin on Agallu energy. The lack of responses is not unusual or surprising. I could never (in almost 20 years) get any information other than the "wives tales" that are refutted in a knowledgeable site like this one.

Would anyone care to offer some information, if they know.

Respectfully and thank you,
/t

Default context

I would guess that the reason you have received few answers is that, in the sense most people view their Primary Orisa Eneregy, Agallu ( Aganu) plays no part. It is not an ebnergy that should be placed inside someone's head. It is far too primal and powerful.

As all energies that the Yoruba identified played a role in the living nature of the Universe, Agallu plays a significant role. As a primal transitional energy between the formation of and completion of a planet, as well as the ocassional "re-organization" ( Krakatoa) it is a potent energy. The intensity of power of liquid lava has both defined geographical locations and often oblittered them ( Pompei )...but it is an energy that has little ourpose in human life's. Regardless of the well meaning pataki that attempted to correctly express the energy in metaphorical terms, or the nonsense stories of "blood" relationships between various energies, the bottom line is it has little to do with our everyday existance.

Anyone who divines this as a Primary energy for an individual does not truly understand the impossibility of this relationship.

OK. Very interesting. I have to process this information for a while as I don't know how to feel about it in its entirety. As you already obviously know, so much is taken for granted in divination and the explanations and as you say "pataki" form of disciplines. I have both a sense of relief and concern from reading your posts on similar issues (where you say that very few times in your life have you seen that someone MUST crown orisha), among other things; and this information that you graciously provided for me.

In part, the releif is because some times you are made to feel as if your situation is a dire emergency and you must proceed immediately to chi-ching the process (if you know what I mean) - or face great ruin, and in part, concern because - where do you as an individual without coronation, begin to draw the line and begin to draw the correct coclusions based on what you are being told or in some cases "sold".

I don't know. I am totally babling now.

I will say this though.... I am grateful for your time.
